PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Managing Director
1983-present
Developed a thriving consulting practice focused on increasing organizational thought leadership in change management, strategic planning, complexity reduction, organizational development, and training. Client base covers public, private, and non-profit sector organizations such as Marriott Corporation, Lockheed Martin, United Way of America, Corning, BMW, Motorola, the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy, and Justice, NASA and numerous state and municipal government agencies. Trained and facilitated sessions for well over 45,000 people.
Sample Engagements:
A Major Defense Contractor
Worked with the Shared Services Organization to evaluate the impact of different future strategic and operational scenarios on the organization’s structure, the division of functional roles and responsibilities, and the technical capabilities needed to accomplish their corporate support mission. This has resulted in changes in their service delivery matrix, organizational structure, as well as enhanced presence of thought leadership around training, development, recruitment, and retention strategies for senior leadership.
A Federal Healthcare Agency
Developed and facilitated a strategic plan for the direction of autism research over the next five to seven years. The plan established funding priorities in the domains of diagnosis, treatment, risk factors, and biology. This involved the development of a process consistent with federal enabling legislation, mandating significant levels of public participation. Facilitated planning sessions involving the country’s prominent thought leaders in genetics, neuroscience, philanthropy, university research, and public issue advocacy.
A Global Non-Profit
Have enjoyed a long-term relationship in support of their mission to assist their 2,400 local philanthropic entities. This support has included work in creating an inclusive culture, developing local Boards of Directors, facilitating and implementing strategic planning, and leadership development. Most recent involvement has centered on the assessment of core competencies implied by a shift in mission at the national and local levels. The outgrowth of this work has enabled them to increase the depth of thought leadership in approaches needed to build a concentrated community focus around key issues, rather than simply funding a diverse base of charitable organizations.
