LeRoy Thompson, MBA

LeRoy Thompson, MBA is Managing Director of Thompson & Associates, LLC, a consulting and training firm. LeRoy provides thought leadership in addressing the strategic and operational needs of clients and has mastered the art of transferring that same thought leadership to them by developing their internal resources. He has expertise in a wide range of disciplines including strategy formulation, strategic planning, project management, organizational development, change management, business process improvement, and leadership development. His training and facilitation expertise runs the gamut from emotional intelligence, decision-making, interpersonal communications skills, personal style assessment, teamwork, to presentation skills.

Important work in his tenure at McKinsey

Prior to starting the firm, LeRoy was an Associate with McKinsey & Company in its Washington, DC office. He was a part of the engagement team that studied the break up of Conrail and submitted recommendations to Congress for establishing the Amtrak system. He has been a Practice Leader with Kepner-Tregoe in the Worldwide Strategy practice, as well as a Senior Consultant with Booz, Allen and Hamilton, specializing in change management projects with Federal agencies.

Award-winning speaker, author, and television and radio personality

He has been a featured speaker at national and international conferences for the American Bankers Association, International Personnel Management Association, National School Boards Association, American Society of Association Executives, American Bar Association, National War College, and the American Press Institute, just to name a few.

LeRoy received a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard University, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. His AMA-by-Satellite television broadcast of “Written Skills for Business Communications” received the Best of Business Television Award. His book, Mastering the Challenges of Change received a Newberry Book Club award. His article “E Commerce—Changing the Rules of Strategy Implementation” was published by Strategy and Leadership magazine. He has served as a member of numerous non-profit boards of directors.
